Organic Screen

Organic Screen

- Evaporative cooling was the theme for this organic light diffuser.

Khus, a natural fibre was woven into a screen for use in semi-outdoor spaces. When moist by spraying with water periodically, it acts like an air-cooler when the wind passs through. Wet Khus has a pleasant aroma and is cooling and refreshing. The structure of the screen was inspired from the traditional Indo-Islamic architectural element, called Jaali, a perforated stone or lattice screen. Moving towards energy sustainability will require changes not only in the way energy supplied, but in the way it is used. This woven screen is interpretation of the traditional khus tatti or vetiver screen which functions as a natural air-flow humidifier.
